Title: Air in the FC
Post by: sin2win on November 04, 2008, 10:45:21 AM
When i put my case(s) into the FC...(using the perlite setup in a rubbermaid bin) do i need some kind of air filter or bubler? is venting 2-3 times a day enough?

Also, baph, u said 3-5 inches of perlite, so when the RH is getting 2 high, just remove a inch or so til the desired amount is reached?  If i vent the FC, wouldnt that mess with the RH?

Just making sure- RH 90-92% is a ok amount

- Depending on the size of your fc, and how many casings you plan on having in there.  But anywhere inbetween 2-5 is sufficient.

If i vent the FC, wouldnt that mess with the RH?

- Again that depends on how your vent is set up, givin the demensions of your fc you COULD cut a hole out of the lid of your fc and cover it with Tyvek. I tried that back in the day but I put 2 old cpu fans rigged to old battery chargers and every now n then I would plug em in blowing air into the fc and another blowing air out of the fc.  Cpu fans are cheap, and if you have an unused computer there free.

Just making sure- RH 90-92% is a ok amount

- Yeah, anything above 90% is what your looking for.  Ive heard cases do extreemly well at 95% but that would make it a little more open to contams, so keep it in the low 90's for a couple grow's until your ready to start trying diff methods.

ok cool, my fc is prob going to have 2 cases in it(maybe not this 1st grow),and there bout ill guess and say 14"by 10" or 9".  When i have them in my fc theres only like 2in away from everything... so 2 cases pretty much fill my fc.

In a fc that packed, the perlite should hold up..?? if i dont cut the holes will venting 4-5 times a day be enough?...Also, do u all suggest the little holes towards the bottom of the fc stufffed with pollyfil (like seen in the pf teK vid if i remember right)

1 more- what difference/changes would i have to do with just 1 (lots of space in the fc)

thx

"14"by 10" or 9""

You mean 14" long x 10" wide 9" deep?

"if i dont cut the holes will venting 4-5 times a day be enough?..."

Yes

Your FC sounds small if I'm getting your dimensions right.

srry let me clarify... The trays for the case mix/substrate are - 14" long by 10 or 9" wide.  My fc fits 2 of them with about 2 inches away from each side of the wall and other tray in the fc.  The fc is pretty tall itself, at least prob 2 ft. if i guess almost 3ft long also.

that being in mind...
