hello
this is my first time and i have a question. I have some large size caps, but there is a black oily substance on them and on the stem. it comes off when I rub my finger on it. Is this mold or rotten or normal?

It could be rot but without a pic it's hard to tell.

That's true but, rot is slimey also and we don't want the man to get sick -_-
That's the whole reason behind a pic.
He wouldn't be able to tell if it's more purplish/black unless he's got a microscope.
Until then I say throw a pic up on here and you will be helped better.

Ok so here are a few pics of my Psilocybe Cubensis B+. First it started out brown, then turned black. The cap itself is a light beige color after I wipe the black off which makes me think they didn't rot, but I don't know much about this. You can see in second pic where it wipes off. Could this be spores???

Now my second cake that is getting alot of growth is starting to turn brown... and some of the caps look a bit abnormal. Are these abnormal shrooms ok to eat? I think they got crushed before I birthed the cake.

On the 1st pic,
Does that black come off if you wipe it with a Q-tip?
If so,then your fine.
If the black don't come off then I would toss it just to be safe.
Looks like spore deposit to me.

yes it does come off with a qtip. Good, I was hoping they were spores, but I wanted to make sure.
