I've just purchased a filter is a 24''x24"x12" Micretain filter from Camfill Farr
http://www.camfil.com/script/productview.a...oppic=top18.jpg

the label on the filter say:
( Efficiency tested
efficiency : 99.48 % at 0.3 micron
O.48 WG
8/9/2004
machine: Camcount )

-Is there a really big difference between 99,48% and 99,97% ?

-If yes, I plan using a UV lamp or small hepa air purifier between the pre-filter and the blower, good idea ?

-what will be a the best blower for that filter ? (considering a 0.2 W.G pre-filter )

-the only reason why i bought this filter is because its 0.5 " W.G
and i thought that my 980 cfm blower will not be powerful enough to push through
a 1.0" W.G Hepa filter.
Am i right ?

thank you so much

I'm a little bit confuse about my flow hood design ...

I saw some laboratory grade flow hood and the hepa filter was placed in a vertical position.

Whats the difference between a Vetical and a Horizontal laminar flow hood ?

Which one is better ?

I found a cheap 980 CFM Rubicon squirel cage blower with a 1/6 hp motor !

Now im planing of using a hepa filter for whole house hepa filtration system :

http://www.fantech.net/hepa.htm

The filters are 99.97% effective down to 0.3 microns and seems to be 3-4 inch thick.

Do i really need a 6 inch thick 99,99 % effective filter ?

thanks !

I'm building a flow hood and i have to choose between a squirel cage blower and a inline centrifugal duct fans

and i was wondering which one will work best for a flow hood

a 465 CFM Hydrofarm Active air ''squirel cage'' blower
http://www.hydrofarm.com/content/vent_envir.htm

and 465 CFM Vortex powerfan centrifugal iline duct fan
http://www.atmosphere.com/English/vortex.htm

thanks a lot !
