You can easily make a glove box for a small amount of money using a plastic storage bin that has two holes cut into it for your hands. I have had very good luck with mine and I don't have to worry about finding a small sterile environment in my home to work in. I use the kitchen counter area of my home sprayed with 91% alcohol in the general area. And also inside of the glove box.

I put the micropore tape over the holes in my jars and then cover them with foil before I sterilize my jars and have had good success so far ( probably 100 jars up until now ).

PW is right on. My first attempt at a shotgun FC had way too many holes in it. After I taped up most of them I was able to increase the RH to a suitable level.

Damn Shroomzer that looks exactly like the incubation set up that I have (even the same temp. gage). I have twenty half pint jars in mine right now.

Dried mushrooms will not produce spores.

No. That won't work. If you are truly interested in this hobby do some research before asking  questions.

I start out drying mine under a fan for about 24 hrs. and finish them out ( cracker dry ) in a dehydrator for about five hours.

No. You don't need to buy both. They are different because the process for using them is different.

I have not had anything but bad luck using the sporebank. I tried their products when I first started this adventure and I never had anything but negative results. It's no wonder that they are trying to rip off legitimate supplieres. They are nothing more than scam artists with a fancy looking web site IMO.

So these people were "injecting mushrooms into there arms" eh? How stupid can these people in S. C. possibly be to actually believe that was the case? The reporter obviously needs to do some research. It was kinda amusing though.

PF - Tek / Re: Average time for cakes to fruit?
March 12, 2009, 06:33:19 PM
My cakes usually start to pin about five to six days after the dunk and roll. As for the one cake that you did not dunk, it is probably not growing well  because your cake is drying out.

Your cakes look like they are ready to birth, dunk & roll and put into your FC.

Nice flush Fatrout. I've heard that they lose their potency after the spores drop. I guess you could always "study" them and find out if they are still good though.
