Cultivation / Question for Anno
March 22, 2007, 06:27:40 AM
Good day,
i have this tray with sum PR's in it and I have noticed something quite strange.

Sry for the quality of the pic But,I'm sure you can see the greenish/blue on the cap of the PR I am refering to.
Along the stem is the same color as the cap.also in this tray there are some that do not show this discoloring.
They still seem to be growing and for some strange reason they have started to grow sideways or crooked like you see in the pic.

My question to you is,Is it possible that upon growing it may have bruised itself coming out of the casing?
I do not think it's Trich,I have cut open the tray to see and I noticed no Green.
So what are the possible reasons for this?
and as a footnote,There has been none harvested from this tray so that rules out bumping against them.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I got the spores from a friend.I have no clue where he got them from.
I've never heard of Sporestore.
But here is a link to a list of trusted vendors http://www.shroomery.org/sponsors.php
I do have prints of those cambo's if anyone is interested.
I'd be up for trading.

"Perhaps they are getting too little gas exchange...Try to unscrew the lids a bit, but lease the fioil on."
I agree.

Also something to think about. If the air temps outside the jars are at 84 degrees, the temp in the jars could be much higher causing to stall as well.

PF - Tek / Re: fruiting light and temp

ya those are all optimal but,
during spawn run higher temps can cause higher contam rate,I.M.E I have had more succsess with lower colonization temps.More like 70-75 degrees,And I let the Mycelium heat the jars as they produce heat as they grow.
Yes they may take a little longer but is worth the end result.
I also Incubate my trays at the same temps. and within 2 days(depending on strain),I may have to "patch",and if I patch,I move them to my FC.
Once in my FC,temps flucuate between 68-78 degrees. My RH stays at a average of 93%
and in those conditions within 1 week I harvest a flush.
All of this is from my expeirence with growing :)

And here it is with a tape measure to give you all a Idea of how big it is.

It came from a tray thats on it's 2nd flush.
that monster weighed 85 grams wet and is 8.5 inches long.

well i had a nice 1st flush from 4 trays weighing a grand total of 83 grams dry.
with that said here is my 1 st tray of Cambo's from the 2nd flush.
On the left is a few PR's that jump out early and grew small

Here is a massive monstrousity of a Cambo this beauty is from my 2nd tray on the 2nd flush and it's FREAKIN huge.

PF - Tek / Re: Pf Tek HELP!!!

"Nothin' wrong with growing at room temperature. It just takes longer. And so what if it does. Sure saves a lot of trouble fussing with tubs and heaters and everything."

And it also cuts down on contams if sterile procedures were followed. -_- -_-
you run a higher risk of contams colonizing at higher temps I.M.E, contams thrive in warm conditions.
I don't do PF-Tek,but i colonize at room temps. and I've had jars take as long as 21-28 days to show colonization, and some as soon as 5 days.
cheers all :)

I plug my lights in when i wake up and shut them off when I goto bed.
You could get away with as little as 2 hrs of light a day.
so any where between 2-12hrs of light is plenty.
I keep temps in my FC at 70-76 degrees.
hope that helps and good luck with your grow  -_-

thanks man.
I said "cakes" when i have cased trays Doh!
I just took the ones with the holes in them and put them in a bigger tray then just filled them with distilled water, seems to work great cause now I'm seeing a 2nd flush from those trays.

EDIT:
admin may lock this thread if they want.

man, Ive had jars that have taken 2 months to colonize.
there is just to many factors to figure out why they arent working for ya.

If thats a PF tek cake and he cased it like that, there might be no more than what he has.
the cake has already been triggered to fruit.
I see a ton more casing then what is need for that. (that is if it's a PF tek cake)
No myc growth in the outer edges of the tray.
You should see some myc growth all over or at least in spots of that thing before it begins to fruit (I.M.E)
To me it looks like you have to much casing for that cake.
What I mean by that is :
your cake is in the center and has started to fruit and the myc is confused because you have all that casing around it and your cake wants to fruit.
thats my opinion.
P.S
Invest in a cheap temp/humdidity gauge to at least get a idea what your temps and humidity is at.

Cultivation / Dunking question
March 02, 2007, 04:07:51 AM
Good day all,
I was gonna do the dunk tek of pouring distilled water in my trays,(I got that from another set of forums)unfortunatly I noticed upon doing this tek that may trays have small holes in the bottom of them.
what is the best method of dunking them since this is the case for me?
And since the cakes like to float what can i put on them to keep them in their trays?
Thanks,
Baph

I put a jar in that was 75% colonized in my FC and I got it to fruit.
It just takes a bit longer and you risk a less even pinset and contam.
Reasons could be many why its not 100%
but leaving them in a jar after stalled growth could risk a greater chance of contams I.M.O.
Me I would case it and throw it in the FC.

here was a early guy from my 1st batch
it weighed 20.3 grams wet
Is staggered harvest a common occurence? Or is it related to un-even pinsets?

Sorry Anno and everyone else, I'm just one happy dude.
but it goes to show that this hobby is very learnable.
I didnt start with PF cakes.I started out with quart jars on grain injected with syringes I've had for 2 years. And then cased with straight coir.
here is a couple pics I took this morning.

I also have 2 trays of PR's in the FC also that I think I need to patch to try and get a more even pinset.
I'll try and post a pic of the PR's for any advice I can get.
And once again I have to say that this is my very first grow attempt with no contam'd jars or trays <--(so far).
I know I have alot to learn but,
Thanks to all who have helped me :)
Any advice on what I may need to do in any areas is very much appreciated.

try getting spores from here http://www.shroomery.org/sponsors.php
if that still doesnt solve the problem, it could be enviormental conditions.
thats just a suggestion bro  -_-

I first apologize for the quality of this pic but.
This is my very 1st grow.
colonised on wheat berries.Cased with Coir.
this is a pic of 3 days into fruiting with a Cambo strain.
I took that pic 7 hrs ago and they just keep getting bigger.
I know pinset may not be worth crap, but I'm just pleased as to the results I am seeing.
Thanks Anno.

just a update.
that tray was a bit to wet so I dapped it off with paper towel and in 24 hrs. I have pins.
it's as if it was dunked in the tray if that makes sense, cause after i dapped the water off its been BLAM.
I will post pics of the harvest when they are ready.
Thank you Anno for your help.  -_- -_- -_-
