Title: harvesting spores?
Post by: F.W.Despot on June 10, 2010, 12:17:56 PM
so i clipped a couple caps today and im just trying to make sure what i did should work....... soaked a 1/2 pint jar in bleach/water solution washed, sprayed with lysol, and washed again then clippied caps wearing gloves sterilized all tools etc. but do caps have to be open to where they are almost flattend out or once the tissue completely dies will it drop spore no matter what because theese caps were still pretty domed but gills were clearly visible....... anyways set them gills down in the jar, put a little micro filter pad and coffe filter over top the rubber band around it then put in window sill ..... will this be okay?

Probably doesn't need to be in a window sill, but sounds like a winner.

It works really well that way.  If the veil has dropped you should get a good print in 12 hours or so.  The jar is great becAuse all you have to do is add pure water and honey and you'll have a whole jar of LC.

My cakes and grains seem to colonize in about 2/3 the time and far more complete when working with LC vs. Spore solution.
