More nutes yes, but also slower colonization. It's a trade off. Still, it's always fun to try new stuff just make your major effort with a method that has worked for many. Why try to reinvent the wheel? It always comes out round in the end.

my biggest shroom weighed out 3.5 grams dry. It was a cambodian from a BRF cake. Ain't no tellin' when you work with magic.

Welcome to the forum. soot is not a contam. I wouldn't deliberately put it in the jar but no worries about it. Use the alcohol wipe method. Good luck and keep growing.

I would re-sterilize. Why risk contams?

I doubt anyone on this site has ever had problems with sending cash to Ralphs. I just fold the money into a piece  of paper, send it in a "secure" (non-see through) envelope and make double sure I have enough postage on it. Buy a couple of syringes and take the risk.

You did the right thing. Write it off to experience and start over. We all get contammed from time to time.

 remember, the fewer times you interrupt their growing cycle by exposing them to light, the faster they will colonize the cake. I know, I know it's hard to just leave them in the dark. That is the best method. Good luck with your grow.

Those that fruited look yummy but it looks to be about the same yield as a half pint cake that was not infected. If you have it isolated then be patient. You may get another flush. IME the next flush tends to stall out with the fruits looking small. Damn trich.

In my sad experience with trich, by the time it makes it to the surface it has worked its way into the substrate. You now have a ticking time bomb in your FC.Trillions and trillions of trichoderma spores are spread around when you 'cut out' the infected part. It may look clean to our eyes but I doubt you got it all. Sucks. Especially since it tends to happen right when you are expecting to see pins. My 2 cents: toss, lysol, wipe down, lysol, wipe down, lysol. Good luck.

Of course that would require that we identify ourselves by name and address :-)

It takes a steady hand with a candle. You want to put the needle at the top of the small blue flame. Otherwise you get the black coating.

In my limited experience you heat the chocolate to 120F and then let it cool back down to 85. You should not add shroom powder if it is hotter than 115 (110 to be safe). Chocolate is very fussy stuff and you have to be careful not to get any water splashes in it at all. Even a few drops will turn the cured chocolate to a rubbery consistency. It will, of course, still get you off. I think with chocolate flavored shrooms you can eat 1/3 less and get the same level and intensity of a journey. Naturally, your smileage may vary.

If you haven't innoculated them yet then re PC the batch with the verm layer. Contams are no fun so stack the deck in your favor. I've had good luck with jar lids that have a 1/2" hole stuffed with polyfill and no verm layer but have a go with the regular PFTek first before you begin experimenting.

Sure 1CC is enough but it does take longer to colonize. It's hard to spread the injection around the substrate with only 1 CC.

Thanks for this. I've gone with straight chocolate and powdered magic. The trick is to have a double boiler and a good candy thermometer so you can temper the chocolate. I'll have to give this a try next harvest.

I remember a lecture by Terrance Mckenna where he described his one and only experience with mixing harmine and psilocybin. He said it was the longest night of his life and exhorted the listeners to NOT do it. People do anyway. Please post a report if you make the plunge. Good luck.
In my opinion, the best "maoi" inhibitor is chocolate.

General topics / Re: Yosterizii Strain???
January 17, 2010, 04:00:40 PM
I have a cake that has produced one flush and is working on another. My results are only okay_ not bad but not spectacular either. Ralphsters carrys this strain ( where i got mine) they also carry the TAK Mountain strain. TAK has been terrific, hardy, fruitful and resilient. I've got a jar of popcorn/millet that is almost fully colonized with the last of my yosterizi so I reserve the right to change my mind. At this point, I would not order it again. my 2 cents.
