Cultivation / Re: envious? penis that is...

Wow. I'm certainly jealous. I grew some PE on popcorn and got exactly one fruit that was maybe 1/4 the size of the myco ---- stars you are growing. Congratulations. Shortly after the one fruit, the dreaded green fuzz started showing up so I dumped the tray. Which vendor did you get your spores from may I ask?

PF - Tek / Re: Poor man's pod

I've heard that the H202 evaporates and retards the growth of the shrooms. I'm not sure if this is true or not. I switched over to minimal water and added sea salt to help with keeping humidity up. I'll post if it works or not.

I was given one of those vacuum bag thingies for my birthday years ago. Never had a use for it until I began this hobby. Once the shrooms are cracker dry they get weighed and put in a bag, sealed shut, labeled and dated. No worries.

If this is your very first grow then stick with the PF TEK and put the cakes directly in the FC. You can do a dunk and roll to help with moisturization. But on the first attempt I believe it is wise to keep it simple. If the cakes are uncontaminated you will get a good flush for your labors. My .02 -_-

Beautiful job. A soft toothbrush can clean up that verm on the stems once they are cracker dry. And yes, trip report due.

With this effort safely stored away you can venture into new territory. Though you might want to find some others to help you keep the stash from getting stale.

  And some more:
FC = fruiting chamber
TIT = tub in tub (incubator)
Lots of strains of cubensis are abbreviated: PE penis envy, SA South America etc. etc.

If you can get a grow like that then you'll be well served. Once you've tasted a bit of success, ramble around the archives on this site. A spore print and a few bucks investment will keep you going deeper into the hobby. good luck and welcome

Now you know that with that strain and assuming similar conditions you can safely eat more. Try mixing it in a hot chocolate. The coco seems ot potentiate the shrooms.

Congratulations on a great flush. One question, how long between putting them in the FC and the first pins? Is that a popcorn substrate?

The only possible issue is the time it takes to achieve full colonization. The longer it takes the more opportunities for contams to get a toehold. Keep us informed on how it goes.

I've got 4 bread pans of popcorn cased with PE. I'll post pics when I have something to show.

Wait until the veils are just beginning to tear off the bottom. If you let them go to "maturity" they tend to drop their spores in the FC.

:ph34r:Try to distract yourself somehow...
Ah yes patience. I think what is mostly provoking my anxiety is I had to go out of town for 3 days and I was hoping for something to have happened in my absence. But yes, patience, as I have in fact counseled others...
Thanks for the reminder.

Cultivation / Pining for Pins
August 11, 2009, 09:21:19 AM
So I had very good results with popcorn, at least, up until this point in the cycle. I've got 10 bread pans filled with PC cased with either 50/50 coir verm or 100% verm. I mist with 9/1 H2O/H2O2 and my tubs have 10 3/4" holes plugged with polyfil. In addition, my checking up on my babies leads to a complete air change every 6 hours or so. Nothing has shown any pins. They been in the bin for 10 days. Temp is 82, RH 99%. Suggestions?
