Title: using soap to break up spore clumps
Post by: jimboyia on January 16, 2012, 01:55:57 AM
Hello all,

When using spore prints to make syringes is it OK to use a tiny amount (0.01%) of a non-chlorine soap to break the surface tension of the water & ensure good spore dispersal? Would normal NaOH kill spores?

Yoho,

i don't know about that, looks agressive, i use lubricant with the same effects. Less than 1% in a spore solution of 100ml, it also contains a preservative but less agressive...
It's lubricant that the farmers use, for their cattle. It's cheap too.
