Title: Casing
Post by: Vandal_xx on April 06, 2011, 12:36:22 PM
Just did my first casing with a crumbled up 1pint brf cake and a layer of straight verm at feild capacity on top. I have noticed a vast array of different casing layer recipes. Is vermiculite a good enough layer on it's own? I had a great pinset for my first attempt at a casing, but I think I had too much moisture and the fruits dried up to be very light. Any suggesstions?

Hi Vandal I also use just verm as a casing, it works very well for me, the ratio I use to get to field capacity is 3 parts verm 1 part water, and it is spot on everytime.
the important thing i guess is that after a couple of days that you put it back in the incubator just mist it very lightly a couple of times so it doesn dry out while the myc is coming through (remember is 28 C in there).

hope this helps and good luck, keep us posted.
