Title: My chamber design. Need some feedback
Post by: iamsofaking on November 19, 2010, 10:34:03 AM
I am a newbie. I love mushrooms of all types and have recently decided to grow my own. I have a couple cakes ready and am about to have my first birthday. I got this design from The Vaults of Erowid and wondered if anyone else had anything comparable that could answer some questions for me before I go and kill my first batch of babies. Any input would be greatly appreciated for, as i said, I am a newbie. My main concern is airborne water droplets and condensation. Should I put the humidifier on a timer? Should it run constantly? Should I be able to visibly see ANY vapor coming from the feed line to the chamber? iamsofaking,

Really sorry I hadnt chimed in yet.. That spammer buried your posts, and Ive had alot going on over here..

Did you get your hygrometer yet??

Without that, there isnt any way to tell what your RH is, but judging from all the condensation in your tub, Id say its too high.. Do you have any holes drilled in that tub for FAE, or were you planning on manually fanning?

Still waiting on the hygrometer. Should be here within the week I hope. Yes I do have 2 half inch vent holes on the back corners. I removed the pearlite and am going with just the humidifier. When I shine a flashlight into the FC I can see just the slightest hint of fog.

Got the hygrometer. Was running at 80% with no pearlite. Put about an inch and a half of pearlite back in. RH is now up to about 92% and temp is holding at 77 degrees. Have quite a bit of FAE so it looks good. Humidifier will run for about two days before being refilled. now to see if it will sustain good performance.

Did you soak the perlite 1st?

You want that RH to be up to 99% with casings to initiate pinning, then hold between 97 and 99 during fruiting..
