If it is fully colonized you need to introduce  Light, fresh air, and 90%+ RH . . .  . then vualla.... mushrooms ... Good Luck

I usually use a little brush I picked up at walmart or something like that, and brush the verm and dirt off, I found it's easier (if I have time) to clean them before they dry all the way... Good Luck

I use a dehydrator that I have, it has a setting that doesn't use any heat.. takes about 12-24 hours to dry, when you can snap the stems they are dry.... Good Luck

I usually get more than 2or3 . . . . if you re-hydrate the casings good, you can get 4 or 5 flushes, sometimes I take and flip the casing over and re-case the bottom... Good luck

I don't get it... did you put subtrate on top of your brf or you mean a non nutrient barrier??? from looking at the pics it looks ok, but hopefully you didn't actually put food on top of the brf because the mold will set in if it's not fully colonized.... anyways more pics would be nice good luck.....

PF - Tek / Re: from spore to syringe _something wrong_
« on: February 06, 2011, 09:08:58 AM »
there might be alot more spores in the prints you get from off the internet, maybe the spore print you took there wasn't enough, the more spores are in a syringe the faster it will take off.... just give it a few more days, as long as you didn't get the spores to hot they should be fine.... GL

it looks like it is starting to get some overlay on top, I would take fork and lightly fluff the mycelium, as long as you have  RH up near 99% and you have light for 8+ hours a day and your fanning, make sure the temp is around 70 also..... that should trigger the mycelium to stop growing and for the hyp[holnodes (or whatever they are called) to start forming and will pin... GL sounds like your on right path just make sure you give it enough time to, I sure wouldn't just through them out, they look good..... GL

PF - Tek / Re: Jar tops ?? Does anyone use the lids?
« on: February 04, 2011, 03:48:29 PM »
hmmm I take it your doing the brf tek so your using verm as a barrier layer as well.... but I used to use 2 pieces of foil, took top layer off to inoculate and then stuck it back on.... I now use polyfil though (super cheap it's used as pillow stuffing) just shove some of that tightly through your hole on lid and you can inoculate through the polyfil itself, works great..... anyways gool luck

ya with cakes 99+ RH all the time, fresh air, and light weather it is 12/12 or 6/18 might even be enough but I just turn mine off when I go to bed and turn on when I wake up.... sounds like your on right track though

« on: February 04, 2011, 08:17:26 AM »
I started thinking about my casing process a little more, I am using lime flour that I had bought last year, and I think it might be the wrong type, or something, I tried a new mix wich called for 10% Lime and so that is way more than I used to add, so if it was the wrong type of lime ( I did get this at the feed store and believe it is for horses) but my new casing I just did I used my old recipe and scrapped off those older ones, there was NO mycelium growing up at all through the casing so must of been problem... oh and the PH is actually sepposed to be around 7 I found out.... GL all

you all are paranoid, the DEA doesn't go after us small timmers.. but some brf isn't going to get ya busted.... many people buy those ingredients plus many more ie. grow bags, and spores.... but that's just my ideas on the subject... who knows how well they actually monitor this shit :)

I normally don't check it I just go with my usual ratio, but conditions have changed I'm living in new place that the water is really bleache' smelling, and not just that but I increased the lime flour which I never should of done.... I am going to scrape the tops and re-case tomorrow since there is a bunch I have to do tomorrow anyway...

I use the rapitest ph soil tester       it just has 10 little pills with it, mix it with soil and water and gives you your ph, I have never tried any other ones    GL
