Sounds good.

PF - Tek / vermiculite replacement?
« on: April 23, 2004, 06:05:44 AM »

>My friend said he has done the PF-Tek guide with Rice bubbles!!
Since rice bubbles is popped rice, it is probably true.

>my friend also pulls alot of shit from his arse! is this true?
If you say so ;)

>if not have you got any replacements for vermiculite that you know of?

Read Can I substitute any ingredients in the PF recipe?

>I also would like to know some tips on getting spores of freshly picked (wild) shrooms?

Cut the cup of an opened, clean, fresh mushroom as far to wards the top of the stalk as possible, and place on fresh clean typing paper and cover with a water glass. Remove the cap after 12-24 hours, now a nice dark print should be on the paper. Replace the glass and leave for another 24 in order for the print to dry. After 24 hours remove the glass, fold the paper  and store the print dry and cold.

Very good!

In the attachment are the files which need to be translated. I would suggest you to use the web editor that comes along .
If you run into any problems feel free to post here or PM me.

You can find organic rye grains in shops that sell organicaly grown foods (kinda obvious ;) ) and on the internet:

Whatever works for you.
As for "air is everywhere", you might want to read this thread:

Either put a layer of aluminum foil loosely over the top, or leave the holes uncovered. Sealing the jar is not good, because mycelium needs air to breath.

1. While it?s better to use organic brown rice, in most cases normal white rice  suitable for human consumption works as well. So don't worry too much about it.

2. I wouldn't recommend putting the jars in plastic bags. The jars need air to breath, while the amount needed is not that great, it's still better if they are not sealed.
The top vermiculite layer and of course the foil should provide enough protection against dust from the air.

And your English, it's flawless.

Do you think you could or better, would you want to  translate the PF Tek for Simple Minds into Serbian language? Do you think there is an interest for it in your country?

No, it's a much more powerful one.
You can see the specifications here:

It's dead when no air is blowing through it anymore, or when it has a hole and the contaminants pass through it.

To clean it, you would have build the filter out and  blow filtered air through the filter from the opposite direction to blow the accumulated dust off the inside of the filter.
It would be possible, but I think it?s just too much work.

The life expectancy of a filter if you use the hood for a personal use(a few hours a week) is many, many years.
But even if one was to change the filter, not everything is glued together, so it would be possible to change the filter with some work.

PF - Tek / A few ?'s that I have
« on: April 18, 2004, 09:23:20 AM »
I use foil lids, I have the feeling the jars are better ventilated that way and they colonize faster. If you have the option to try different things, try them out, ultimately you will find your tek.

I wouldn?t use tape if you use a lid, but rather use one layer of foil over the holes.

The lid  of the pot should be on as tight as possible so you get a nice, steamy environment for the jars.

I stack the jars rightside up.

Then I would suggest to try a diffeerent tek than the PF-Tek.
You could sterilize some rye
inoculate it, and once colonized case it.
Many documents about it at .

Perlite is pretty clean out of the bag. If you want to sterilize it, simply boil it in water for 30 minutes.

Yes, it was a different type of attack this time, someone created hundreds of  anonymous users that searched the boards.

Please don't write in all big caps.

Patience. It can take from 7-14 days for pins to emerge. Just provide them a high humidity.

It's is normal for mushrooms to blue when bruised.
You should transfer the cakes to the terrarium before the mushrooms have grown that big.
