I have wondered that as well.  I hope someone who knows more answers.

Thanks Baph, I was afraid of that, but not surprised by it.  So far these are looking healthy, even more so than the first, but only a couple good sized ones in contrast to the first.
Also, less of them.

Ya, I talk weird I guess.  I was drunk when I responded, no harm no foul.

Warrior, your advice would be helpful, if i hadn't already factored these things.  I am NOT talking aborts here, in fact, I have had very few.  I am however talking about mushrooms that are growing (see my posts with pictures) and stopping at a certain point, seemingly with the caps rippling instead of unfolding, and breaking veils early.  I am not going to wait when one mushroom is almost full grown, and there are 20 pins growing healthily.  I do not think my question was one that came from someone who has never read any of the literature on the subject.  Waiting for an almost full grown mushroom to collapse on itself while tiny ones are way behind does not seem prudent, but that was not my question.  I was asking if hydration is redirected to new growth.  Read first Warrior, other than that, I appreciate your feedback.  I have also dunked both of the cakes I am talking about, while the third is repeating on its own.

"...which are average sized compared to most pics, seem tiny after they dry, and this is always after the veils break" , sound like aborts to you?

Will removing the larger mushrooms earlier, allow more water and etc. to the smaller fruits or developing pins?
Also, is there a reason my mushrooms don't seem to want to grow past a certain point, obviously the strain could be a factor, but even with losing 90% water even the larger mushrooms, which are average sized compared to most pics, seem tiny after they dry, and this is always after the veils break.  They just seem to want to break the veil earlier than I would like them too.  What's up?  Oh, and the potency wasn't too impressive.  I think 1 1/2 cakes worth per person might do the trick, I got so close on 1 cakes worth.

I got orange on mine after the first flush.  Doesn't seem to be a problem, could be a mineral residue, or a reaction.  I have not experienced anything wrong, and no progression of the discoloration.

My jars sat for six weeks before I put them in the terrarium.  After another week or two, they started turning blue, and it turned out to just be the same blue that appears on the mushrooms themselves, the blue appeared around the same time as the mushrooms were ready to start growing.  Maybe time to birth 'em...

Brazilian strain.  And I picked them earlier, and dunked the cakes.  I will probably make prints with my second syringe (lazy).

I have been saturating mine, and it seems to be what it needs.  Of course, not direct humidity.  Your pins are abundant and look good in my amateur opinion.  I don't think there is such thing as over hydration, they demand a lot.

anno or warrior might be able to give more informed info.

I have read damn near everything on shroomery about pf-tek.  I should always know to go back there and check.

As the subject says, is there anyway to increase the flushes from cakes that have already started fruiting?

Ya, it is bruising I am almost certain.  The parts of the cakes that I handled turned blue.  30-40 pins between 2 of the cakes, looking good.

And I thought my posts were inane. Jeez.  I am still uncertain after 50 hours worth of reading about this shit, and your syntax is criminal.

« on: June 07, 2007, 03:58:36 PM »
i decided to not be so knee-jerk freakout, and instead use my brain.  I chose a completely white park on one of the cakes, and touched it with the same force that picking it up or holding it would give.  If blue in 30 minutes, then I will feel kind of stupid, but at least very relieved.

PF - Tek / Blue!?
« on: June 07, 2007, 03:56:04 PM »
Well, I cut away the blue parts that appeared overnight.  Pinning however also appeared overnight.  I just checked and there is a bunch more blueing, I think mybe this is from when I picked them up to cut away the first blue parts?  Is this ok (normal bluing) or is there some super mold looking to ruin my colony?!?

I was thinking that too.  But if the mycellium has colonized so fully to the point that it is fruiting, wouldn't it be hard for another fungus or bacteria to take over?
I cut the blue out, I hope it was thorough enough.  Seems like a waste to FINALLY get pinning, then notice blue fuzz on the same day after 2 months.
