Hey PW, Shroomzer and all of my other friends and and growers,
Glad to see you all are doing well, and still keeping the dream alive!  I was speaking with the Troutman the other day.
As Shroomzer stated, He is handling that move.
I, on the other hand, had that surgery,..  And, be sure it knocked me back for a minute,....   But I have been back in the game of doing my art, and getting my newly expanded recording studio online.  Not to mention keeping my little friends growing.
Though I haven't weighed in on the various subjects and issues, it appears all is well in the land of growers.  Soon,.... when time allows I will be back more frequently.
  Until then,.....
    Keep growing and Glowing!

David, or Malabar as all of you that he holds most dear to you as friends in your Quest to "Shroom the World Over" , underwent a double valve replacement heart procedure this evening, beginning @ 5:20pm eastern.  I am by his side after Post-Op. ( working @ the Mayo does have it's perks! )  He is drugged, but expected to recover Fully.
But, even coming out of the "Twilight" , he wanted me to convey his sorrow in not being able to "play" with you.  But, to let you know that, I was able to bring his "favorite, 10 g of Malabar, which he munched about 40 minutes prior to surgery.  And he loves US all.
Keep him in your heart, prayers, and Love him as best you can.  He respects, cares, and loves you all.

Jabwemet,
Spray a towel lightly w/lysol, then wrap it around the jar, and allow it to colonize in another location,........ Isolated from the rest, ( like another warm closet ).  Within a week, you should know for sure, and in the same breath, you won't risk a possible exposure to the others.
Think of it as a form of Quarantine .

« on: January 21, 2010, 01:56:15 PM »
Jobes,
Congrats on your new crop!   -_-  There are a number of factors that would come into play as to whether you would need to mist, and when.
These would and are dictated by your means of RH.
Of course you would want to mist Prior to the appearance of pins,....  But if you have an "external" means of RH, ( Tropic Aire, or another source ) you should need any additional misting.
Of course this will also be determined by the size of the crop, and also if you notice any drying of the casing layer.  Then keep that RH @ 90% - 93% RH, during the fruiting period.
With the depth of your casing being close to 1" of p/v , I would think you are holding more than enough moisture, regardless the means of RH.
As for that 30 % rule,...  I have always held to the fact that, when you start to see the first appearances of mycelium peeking through during the incubation period, ( 3 - 4 days ), it's time to head to the FC.
In between your flushes, soak and drain those trays.  I typically have drains punched in mine, if the mycelium hasn't eaten through them already.
I'm sure you will hear a little more input shortly, so feel free to experiment a bit to find the best of the best.
And the best of luck in your future grows.

Jabwemet,
The GT are a finicky bunch.  They have always either taken too long to get in the game, been inconsistent performers, or just plan unpredictable.  I presently have about 6 trays of GT's that have been competing with another 6 - 8 of Costa Ricans, whom are also a "slow performer" and typically slim.  And, both of these strains have been going and growing like crazy!  Especially after the first flush,......  Enormous and outstanding numbers.
Be patient my friend.  You will probably be surprised with the results of the coming flushes.

Dub,
Take it outdoors, and let nature have its way with the Dble Whopper,.....  It's getting nice here in Florida, so depending how your weather is, you might see a little surprise if the UV rays of the sun can eliminate that green.
And, of course,.......  Better grow next time!

MoorhS,
Please be a bit more specific about the "bad foods",....  If you mean "junk or fast foods", .....  I don't generally consume them.  I'm not a health food freak, but I try to keep it somewhat healthy and clean,.....  Mostly fowl and fish.  But, I have been known to stray back to my roots,.....  Nothing like a greasy Latin dish, or some "Soul Food"!
And my doses are Much higher than yours, with or w/o the Syrian Rue.  So you are probably starting in the right neighborhood.  And I try not to consume Any heavy foods for at least 12 hours prior to my voyage.
For me, 12g of shrooms to 3g - 4g for Syrian Rue are a great adventure,.... or beginning.
Like everything else, walk softly, or use those training wheels the first time out.  Though there is always one that feels they can "ice skate uphill", "run through walls", or leap tall buildings in a single bound,....  The truth is they always end badly.
So go light and progress from there.  And Enjoy.
