Hi i am going to be starting my very first attempt. i am planning on using the pf tek methods to start. i have not read anything about odors. should i be concerned with odors exiting my growing station? should i filter the air leaving my environment?

There are no strong odors as long the grow is going well.
The only odors you might encounter are those of bacterial contamination, but even those are subtle and only noticeable  directly near a contaminated jar.

what about drying and how long does drying usually take

Drying in front of a small fan(computer fan) takes app. 2 days.
