Title: Question About Creating a big mycelium block
Post by: copey on October 12, 2008, 07:42:50 AM
first of all, hello guys first time here and a cool site

not sure if this is the right forum for this either

basically i plan to make 6 rice cakes, using the usual methods Ive seen in the vids, my question is, once Ive made these cakes, if i was to break them all up and put them into a tray, would they still grow as usual, and produce a good yield, I'm only asking as it would seem easier to have one tray full, as appose to having 6 little cakes

thanks in advance guys

No need to "break them up"
You can put them in the tray as is and case and be fine.
Don't forget you are doing a multi spore innoc from the beginning(if you bought a syringe), so fruits will be less abundant than a isolated strain.
You'll get the most out of providing proper sterlity technique,RH,Climate,Enviornment, you get the drill  -_-
If you break them up they will recoup, but it takes extra time and opens up more chance of contam since you break them up in your work area.

Cased is always better.

You don't need light until 100% colonization.
Just stick them in your closet
