:ph34r: Just before the mushrooms start to open gently hold them at the root and delicately twist and lift them to pull the mushroom out. By doing so, it becomes possible for new mushrooms to grow. Hugs on everybody!
Actually, pick them after the veil breaks. Usually with cubes that is when they are the most potent. Also, mushrooms are not plants therefore do not contain a root system so grab them at the stipe(base). Even though this answers an un-asked question.
