dumb question, you can do what ever you want!
That all depends. This is the Pf-tek part of the forum so if you will be doing the pf tek method, yes you will need BRF. If you wan't to make spawn to case later on, then you can use types of grains. But if this is your first grow, stick with the pf-tek.
