I've innoculated a couple of popcorn quart jars and am waiting patiently (not) for some signs of mycelial growth. I started with an LC of azurescens. I haven't had any luck with that strain to date. What strain are you growing?

I know that growing morels is difficult. None other than Paul Stamets has had difficulty in getting them to grow. You can go to his site: fungi perfecti and do a search. You probably won't find a lot of useful information on morels (or morals for that matter) on this site.

Only with an open mind. I think we all can name a few folks who don't seem to have learned anything new for quite some time...

What strain? And how "severe" is the growth difference? Photos? Not really enough info here.

I had a full pint jar that I left by mistake on a window sill for 24 hours. It was in April and the sky was overcast. The jar was covered with two layers of foil and was fully colonized. It pinned and fruited quickly and profusely when I put it in the FC. I covered the sides of the jar with tin foil so it only fruited out the top. What I've read is that you want to expose the cakes to enough light that you could read by it. If you can't carry the FC to natural light try taking a cake or two and putting them in a smaller container (sterile) and put that in a bright room for a day. Experiment. Keep your hands clean. Good luck.

I'm curious. Why no casing layer? They certainly look happy regardless. Great grow.

Expose them to indirect sunlight for 6-8 hours then let them cool down. When you put them back in the fruiting chamber the light shock and temp shock will get them to switch from myc growth to pin growth.

Keep them cool, clean and out of direct sunlight. The spores are pretty hardy. I'd keep them in a ziplock and then a tupperware container.

It should be plenty if you provide the right conditions post innoculation. But, that said, you could probably use less if you're willing to be patient.

Probably contamination. What was your procedure for doing the cloning? How sterile? Post some pics and the big boys will set you straight.

my question is wut kind of dirt or w/e should i use? You need to do some reading on this site in the TEK section, learn to post pics, and I suspect, start again with fresh spores and cakes.

Okay thank you. Do you sterilize the coir when using it as a casing or fresh out of the bag?

Not sure what the advantage might be when growing on a small scale in a fruiting chamber. The coir is there to keep the myc nice and moist without being submerged in water. Maybe it is a little easier to handle as chunks, I don't think it will make any difference "operationally". Let us know if you give it a try.

Most wild psilocybes will bruise blue when picked. Don't eat these until you have them identified. You could get really sick. Not fun.

So I was over at the  mycotopia web forums and came across a liquid culture TEK using vanilla extract. Now I can't retrace my steps and put up a link but I did the TEK and started some azurescens. At least, I hope they get started. I have had no luck getting the spores to get going in BRC or WBS or a 5# bag of pre-sterilized-ready-to-go-just-inject-the-stuff rye berries. NO sign of any activity at all. My long term plan has been to get a perennial bed started outdoors but it better happen soon or I won't get anything in the fall.
Anybody here have success in the N.E. with azzies?
