after you pick can you just place the mushroom in news paper and put into a drawer to dry of should i use the dessicant method.
A drawer is a bad choice obviously since there is no air exchange. You should dry the mushrooms using a fan, and perhaps end dry them in a desiccant chamber.
A window screen set up like a rack and fan works really well.

I think the window and the screen takes too long, you could buy a multi-teir food dehydrator at a meijer or somthing their about 40-60 bucks.....well worth it.
