nice fattrout. i like the popcorn so far. my last jar was a little slow colonizing. i think i shook it too many times. oh well, gonna g2g tomorrow. splitting one jar into four. hopefully it will not take as long this time. do you have a method of dunking you casings of corn after first flush??

the rate of colonization can vary from jar to jar. that is simply nature. i can't see the blue in your pics. anything besides white is NO GOOD. how long has it been since the others were done colonizing? you can flip it over, tap it, letting the air shift in the jar. that may speed up the process. i would fruit that by itself, or toss it. no reason to risk spread of contam.

this has happened to me. i think it could be too much rh. not sure though. once your fruit is drying, it simply peels off. you should be fine.

yeah, a couple of my cakes looked like that. no problems so far. it could be from handling them. almost like bruising your fruits.

Cultivation / cakes vs. casing
July 26, 2009, 08:02:54 AM
ok, here is a thought. it seems that casing produces better yields. i have some cakes that i have just pulled the 1st flush. can i dunk them, then crumble and case at this point? this is my last batch of cakes. i have moved on to the wonderful world of popcorn. but i was just hoping to squeeze a little more out of my cakes. any thoughts???

i've been reading up a little on azurescens. it seems they are difficult to grow. has anyone grown them successfully?

cool, thanks malabar. b+ and gt's are what i am currently yielding.  i have 6 jars (cakes) of taz almost fully colonized in the incubator. and, coincidentally, i also have several jars of popcorn knocked up with cam.

hay there malabar. i know the dish has to be micro-safe, lol. i actually wanted to know about covering it. very funny though. btw, do u have a favorite strain to grow?? mabye because of higher yields, or more importantly, better trips(visuals). you have been on the scene a little longer than myself.

fattrout, you're like a mad scientist. but attention to detail does does produce higher yields.

hay malabar. i meant pc'ing the casing mixture. first time trying to case. the pint of popcorn i cased colonized very fast. but the other three are slow going and still in the incubator. so goes nature!! i plan on g2g with one, and case the other two. goood luck with your new venture!!!
