lol, I did the same thing coyoteyogi, got 2 syringes from ralphsters. Malabar and Dancing Tiger <sounded cool, and never heard of anyone tryin to grow them>. So, I think its safe to say that Malabar <the poster, not the mushy> has quite a bit of influence.

Retire Malabar? Blasphemy.  ^_^

Anytime you wanna go Fishing Fattrout, i'm in.  ^_^

Took 3g's of Shrooms when I was 17, out on a lake in a small metal boat. What a great trip. Got back on land and realized it was blueberry season. AWESOME.

OK, ill try to answer as best I can...lol

You will get alot of replies here saying to make your own, and do most of these things by yourself. It will in the long run be cheaper if you intend to grow more times than once.

As for the growbag, You will be growing a type of truffle, which generally takes longer than regular mushrooms. Which is why it will take 4 months as opposed to the EQ Time Lapse video you cited. The video doesnt grow shrooms that quickly because of the light, it was just in the proper conditions. Most healthy shrooms will mature at a similar rate, except for truffles.

As for the co2 question, The bag APPEARS to be fitted with a filter patch, which provides Gas Exchange. I didnt see them mention this patch in the description of the item, so you may want to ask if you go thru with buying this item.

If I were you, i'd do a little more research before I jumped in and bought something. You seem to be getting Truffles and regular Mushrooms mixed up. If you want Mushrooms like the one's in the video, then this growbag is not for you. Do more research.

Keep reading and Good Luck.  ^_^

I hear ya Malabar. I havent even had the time to start. I've had the spores for almost a week, and I just dont have the time right now. Which sucks, cause I REALLY wanted some fruits for New Years.

O well, hopefully i'll have some fruits early January.  ^_^

A cool way that ive seen food dehydrated was on Alton Brown's show Good Eats. He used Furnace Filters and a fan to make beef jerky and dry herbs. If it can make beef jerky, im sure it would work for dehydrating some shrooms. It seems alot safer than the oven. The oven could kill your babies and ruin all your hard work. Not worth it to me. The Furnace Filters can be exchanged for some paper towels as well.  ^_^

You can check out the vids on YouTube. The episodes are called "Herbal Preservation" and "Urban Preservation". Hope this helps.

Haha, I hear ya. I just keep cleaning things that are incredibly clean, lol. This hobby is making me clean ALOT more, and I havent even started yet. Im usually just an Organizing freak. Everything has to be set up perfectly and everything must be in the correct order, lol. At least its not a bad thing when it comes to this hobby. Wish I could get started with my first grow, but I am gonna be away for a bit (Laptop FTW), and I dont wanna leave them unattended...so...I wait...again...lol  ^_^

Wish I could just start already...lol

General topics / Fresh VS Dried
December 02, 2009, 01:26:10 AM
Couple of questions on the fresh and dry mushroom dosages.

1. Whats a good scale to go by when eating fresh shrooms? For instance, does 30 grams fresh equal 3 grams dry? Or is there a better system for Fresh Mushroom dosage.

2. Are shrooms really more potent fresh?

3. Which do you guys prefer? Fresh or Dried?

Thanks Guys!  ^_^

Nice Davie, cant wait to see your results!  ^_^

WBS is Wild Bird Seed right Cugak?

And what is your plan for the Pans Fattrout? Just curious, you guys all have your own cool little setups. And I hear Pans are a bit harder to grow than Cubes. Never tried Pans myself, but I hear they are great.
