The shotglass sized cakes ended up working alright, colonized completely in about 2 weeks, fruited pretty quickly got only 2-3 shrooms out of each one average size is about half of a no.2 pencil (I blame my FC for that though) only problem was the fruits got too big and cakes got top heavy and fell over mid-flush so shrooms still grew but in a different direction ended up with stems that were shaped like funky C's. It's not a bad idea for the impatient but I need to give em more sitting room in FC because they fell over directly on the perlite.
Now My first flush is done and trying to work on my FC, (Going to use normal size cakes this time) trying to emulate Fattrouts because it seems to be working for him. BTW I agree Perilite is a PITA. Going to go find a store and get geolite and make a new chamber this weekend. Had some questions. Your pic in the other post shows some kind of rod taped up to the inside above the geolite, is that your air exchange? In poorman's pod post he puts 2 18inch bubblers beneath perilite which is what I did but I think it pushed too much air. If you could hook me up with some more pics or info on your poor-man's setup when you have time Id happily give you my first-born male child
