I did dunk them , but did not roll in vermiculite . Can I redo them?

I have moved my fully colonized cakes to the fruiting chamber . With humidity at 85% + there is no activity after 7 days . Is this OK? The cakes seem really hard , is this normal?

I put 2 cakes in fridge in plastic bag overnight and returned to chamber to see if any change . How long to pins?is normal or too long?

I too am new . I used the boiling pot method using a decent sized pot that easily handled 12 jars . I "steamed the jars for 3 hours slowly . Then let them cool overnight . Once cool I injected with lab bought solution . My understanding is the spore solution will last several months plus if kept cool and dark.

I recommend reading , printing and saving the P-Tek manual . You can reference this tried and true anytime . It works if you follow the manual .

My jars are beginning to get white on spots on the sides after 1 week .How do you know when they are 100% colonized? When ready to put in FC does the perlite have to de sterilized? Boatman

Besides the strain , what can affect the potentcy?

Also can you eat the "fresh" mushrooms ? Must they be dried to eat?

How long are they detectable by testing? Or how long  till typically safe?

How long do they stay in your system ie for testing to pick it up?

Can using mushrooms show up on a random drug screening/testing ? Boatman

Although I am new to this , my first harvest (limited) out of a bag was a Puerto Rican strain. Again , not much product from the bag but they were very pleasanty potent . I would add easy to grow too . I am learning , excited, and a bit anxious , but learning patience is the key.

I am doing my first try at P-Tek. Can I use the jar lids ( with 4 small holes) and 1 layer of foil? Or is 3 layers of foil with no lid better?

Also , can you inject too much spore solution? Or would it just be wasting material is all

Getting ready to inject spore solution. Any tips on how to get the correct amount and best methods . Does it have to go down the sides of the jar? etc Can you put in too much?

Sterilized my jars , cooling now . I put 4 small diameter holes in jar lids and covered with 1 layer of foil. Will this be ok? Will it let enough air in/out thru these 4 small holes . Does anyone use the lids or should I use 3 layers of foil only?

They are in the MYCO bags . Went completely white in 7-10 day's @ 80-85 F . I lowered temp to 70-75 and have added 6-12 hours/day of 5500 K light . It looks promising until I can start my P-Tek in next few weeks . Hope I am on track. My readings tell me to wait until I have shrooms then open bag and harvest what is grown , close back up and wait until more are ready to pick. Should continue harvesting for 3+ weeks . Others have gotten 30 grams or more per bag . That is what I have read .

I want to thank all involved for your help . I can not believe I found this forum and how helpful everyone is . I am still doing bags but just ordered my jars, vermiculite , br rice flour etc .   Can i use a compact fluorescent light CFL bulb for light exposure or must it be a regular circular or tube type fluorescent buld during light phase of operation
